Living a Life of Purpose
Posted - June 18th, 2014
It never fails to thrill and amaze me when I witness the joy in people who are following their dream, doing what they are meant to do with their life. They have found a way to be of service to others doing what brings them great joy.
No matter what the skill, from hairdressing to cooking to painting to singing to teaching to presenting, I have felt privileged to be in the presence of people who are enthused, energized and ignited by what they do.
This is one of the reasons I love my work as a life coach, teacher and therapist. Helping people to find their passion and purpose in life is a something very close to my heart because I know the difference it can make to a persons happiness. Helping people to feel good and overcome the stress in their life so they can see the wood from the trees.
The saddest time is those people I see in day to day life who have lost their luster. They plod through life feeling unfulfilled but allow themselves to be shackled by the payoffs that exist.
They don’t want to leave the safety of what their life is now, to take any risk because they live in fear of losing their unfulfilled life as it is now.
Yet still they worry about everyday things and what if’s. They feel let down by life and circumstances. They may turn to anti depressants or alcohol or food or shopping etc to ease their boredom with their life.
If only they would listen to their heart and allow that to guide them into living a life on purpose. Discovering ways to be of service to others that ignites them, where they get lost in their skill and the love of creating a life that works.
Yes it can take great courage to take that leap of faith and change how you live your life or where you live your life or what you do. But the saddest thing of all is a life half lived. Ask yourself are you fulfilled? Are you happy? If you knew you had 10 years left to live what would you do with your life? Would you want to carry on as you are or are there things you want to do or places you want to see..
To live a life on purpose is one of the greatest joys there is. There is never any regret only passion, excitement, fulfillment. Yes of course there will be challenges but because of your passion you will always find a way to deal with or overcome any bumps along the way.
You will also be aware of the difference you are making to other people’s lives because just being around you inspires them.
So listen to your heart. Hear what it is saying to you.
Do your research. Get help. Make a plan. Find a way to live your life… on purpose.
