“No man is an island” they say! How true I found that saying this week.
Returning home to Ireland for a family funeral I was aware of the tension I was carrying, not looking forward to the days to come. But I always believe that where there is sadness and pain there is also joy to be found.
Now on the flight back home to Lanzarote days later, I am reflecting on the warm feelings and good memories of cozy chats and lots of love felt surrounded by family and good friends.
These gatherings especially in Ireland are the essence of our culture. Music, good food, nieces nephews, cousins, sisters brother and friends fill the hours and days. Stories, reminiscing, all helps pull one through the darker moments.
It is there in these moments I am reminded how loved I am and how much I love.
Life and especially death reminds us of what is important. And so I take back with me a fuller heart and warm memories of those I love.
